Rosanna’s Polar Midnight half-marathon in the Arctic!
Triad’s junior designer Rosanna Andrews headed over 200 miles north of the Arctic circle this month to take part in the Tromso Polar Midnight half-marathon in Norway. She was joined by her Mum, Penny, who also took part in the half-marathon and her Dad, Steve, one of Triad’s owners.
The half-marathon is actually staged in the Tromso Polar Midnight with the run in snow, ice and permanent darkness at this time of the year.
Despite the snow and sleet and against an experienced international field of runners, Rosanna finished a very credible 4th in conditions totally removed from her usual events.
Penny also finished the run in a high position in her category. Steve took part in the 10K and did not disgrace the Triad name by finishing the run in one hour!
The historic city of Tromsø is ideal for seeing the northern lights and has a mix of outdoor activities, including the magical fjords and mountains, dog sledding, reindeer sledding, skiing, whale safaris, kayaking and fishing. It also has a vibrant nightlife and places to eat local food, especially fresh seafood.
Highlights of the visit included a wonderful whale safari to see orcas, a fantastic view of a humpback and the Northern Lights on the Atlantic coast at Sommaroy on a truly freezing Polar night!
