Held every three years, Bauma is the world’s biggest trade fair for construction machinery, vehicles and equipment, along with associated components and service suppliers. This year’s event in Munich is the biggest Bauma ever – over 3500 exhibitors and more than 600,000 visitors will have attended the 8 day show by the time it finishes on 14 April.
Our Marketing Director, Chris Timm and Business Development Manager, Gary Holt have just returned from the show – blown away by the sheer scale and enormity of it all.
We knew it was going to be big, but nothing we’d heard could prepare us for the reality. Packed trains leading to the exhibition site tested international relations to the full as people from all over the world attempted to squeeze onto already over-crowded carriages. The sea of people in the main entrance hall waiting to go through the turnstiles that provided access to 18 indoor exhibition halls – each one the size of Earls Court. And then, the outdoor display area that covered the same area again, that felt like some kind of industrial theme park. In total, over 620,000 sq m of exhibition space is covered.
In amongst all the stands and exhibitors we were proud to meet up with some of our clients and see for ourselves the work we’d created to help them showcase their products and services. The show gave us fantastic insight into a sector with which we’re already heavily involved, with clients across the engineering, advanced manufacturing and automation sectors. The quality of production and presentation of some of the stands of the biggest brands was striking, as was the continuing quest for innovation and developing pioneering solutions to some of the world’s biggest engineering and construction challenges.
One thing is for sure; we’ll be back again in 2022 and in the meantime we’ll continue to develop relationships with existing and new clients in a sector that continues to amaze, excite and inspire in the same measure.
