Cranfield University postgraduate recruitment campaign
As part of a competitive pitch, Cranfield University asked us to develop a postgraduate student recruitment campaign which conveyed their new positioning statement: Thinking, Brilliantly Applied
From our initial idea of using synapses to represent thinking, we modelled a series of glass-like 3D synapse shapes which we could manipulate and animate. Setting these against a dark background, we created the effect of looking ‘behind the eye’ of a Cranfield student, seeing the synapses gradually transform into an aspirational image; the real-world application.
We wanted to create a very emotional, striking campaign that would appeal to ambitious students across the world. We knew that by developing this concept into a series of short animations (one for each of the key themes/subject areas) we could achieve this, especially across digital media.
With the campaign intended to last for 2-3 years, there is plenty of scope for development. So far we have created 9 different animations – one for each ‘theme’, both full-length and ‘shorts’ for social media as well as a corresponding stilsl for use across digital and print materials.
