The Oxford-Cambridge Arc provides the UK with the capability to be a world leader in new technologies and industries which can drive growth and secure significant job creation for the UK economy over the coming decades. The Arc’s Leaders Group required a design agency to produce an economic prospectus for submission to Government as part of the Oxford- Cambridge Arc’s investment case around the Comprehensive Spending Review period.
Triad was appointed in early September 2020, with the completed document required for the end of the month where it would be submitted for Government consideration. We had to quickly understand what the Oxford-Cambridge Arc was, what the Arc leadership was seeking to achieve and be able to capture this visually to create a prospectus that was successful in delivering this information in an engaging manner. The Arc prospectus had to have impact and stand out.
The prospectus needed to be visually striking and deliver a high volume of information in a way that wasn’t too overpowering for the reader. With this in mind, we firstly produced two visual concepts using the Arc branding guidelines. Up to this point, the Arc’s visual identity hadn’t been used publicly before.
Working closely with our client, a visual approach was chosen. Following this we worked on producing various infographics and two stylised maps which were an important part of the brief. These would show where the Arc is located and also show the key assets in the area, such as technology parks, science and innovation clusters and universities to highlight the Arc’s key strengths.
The project was successfully delivered on time following approval and positive feedback by all members of a high-profile steering group, including senior LEP and University executives as well as Government communications representatives. The final output was a 30-page, web enabled document along with a 10-page executive summary version both of which also needed to meet the required accessibility regulations. This was all completed within 3 weeks.
We are now looking forward to delivering the second phase of work which will include animated infographics and assets to support the launch in November.
