Triad’s summer signings…
Welcome Becky!

We are super pleased to welcome Becky to the Triad team, our fabulous new Business Development Director.

Triad’s summer signings… Welcome Becky!

What are you most excited about for when you join Triad?

The opportunity to collaborate with a talented team and shout about that! The creative work that I've seen so far from Triad is impressive and alluring, I cannot wait to join forces and work on some cool projects together that I can use in my armour to share with prospective clients (and anyone that will listen at the pub!) Oh, and I am also excited to see what biscuits are on offer in the office!

Who would be your ideal client?

I have to say, the more challenging the better! The thrill of winning a project that didn't come easy taps into a primitive emotion in us all but especially as a salesperson. I really enjoy working with a client that is open to being challenged and takes a risk for a better result. I also really enjoy working with companies that have something special to offer; previously I have worked with medical tech companies that are improving surgical outcomes in some advanced ways, and robotics and automation companies that are optimising something that as consumers we rely on heavily and don't realise, like in warehouse efficiencies. One last example, (but I could go on!) companies in the EV world that are ensuring everyone benefits from the energy transition with some super innovative charging products.

What is the biggest misconception people have about your job?

Selling is often seen as a negative transaction; people love to begrudge being 'sold to' I'm sure we can all think of times like these in our personal lives. But when you've identified and agreed a need in a potential buyer then I would advocate that it is your duty to tell the person about your solution. Salespeople are problem solvers!

Besides that, I would say the biggest misconception is that Sales is unskilled and that 'anyone can do it' which is not true. A Sales role is about having a strong mindset and tenacity. It's about understanding the importance of the power of influence, how habits impact our behaviours and what it takes to create strong rapports with clients whilst feeding the commercial strategy of the business you work for. It takes intelligence and confidence to think on your feet in front of a board room of professional industry experts, and grit and motivation to pick yourself back up instantly after a loss.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

Outside of work you will likely find me on a mountain trail, swimming in a lake or paddleboarding down a river to the next pub. I love the outdoors and all the beauty and activities it has to offer.

I'm a solo traveller and have spent time doing the above across a few European countries, with many more travel plans in mind.

I do have a UK travel companion who is rather fluffy, sometimes slow, and steals all my chips, his name is Albie, and he is my 10-year-old terrier cross that I adore! I'm not sure how much he likes being thrown in the car on a Friday night and driven to the next destination to spend the weekend exploring but he never leaves my side!

I've recently learnt how to wakeboard and cannot wait to improve on what I've learnt so far and hit some jumps next.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Definitely eating in bed! It will make some peoples toes curl I'm sure, but there is no better feeling after a long day, grabbing some snacks, putting some trashy tv on and getting into bed.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always drew photos of me as an air hostess in early school years, then when asked the same question in my teens I wanted to get into journalism. Which both make sense now as I love to travel, and I suppose I use a lot of investigative and presenting skills in my sales roles as I perhaps would have done in journalism.

What was your first job?

My first job was part time in a local haberdashery, cutting net curtains to size for lovely women in their later years. I never understood why they needed so many net curtains weekend after weekend, but who am I to question someone's guilty pleasure!

What is your favourite snack?

It is the age-old battle between chocolate or cheese for me, and I can never decide. I am also very partial to a big bag of crisps with dip!

What is on your bucket list?

What's not on there. I like to remain open to all opportunities that pass my way and not limit that to a bucket list. As I've mentioned above, travel is high on my agenda and it always will be, there's so many more corners of the earth to experience but given I have lots of different hobbies, it would be a great goal and accomplishment to perhaps master one of them through to competitions or a huge endeavour that ends with a shiny medal (and hopefully all bones intact)!
