Mahle Powertrain opened the UK’s only Real Driving Emissions (RDE) Centre. The state-of-the-art facility is one of only a few in Europe and for the launch of the centre Mahle required an animation to show exactly what goes on within the testing chamber.
The aim was to demonstrate to prospective customers how Mahle can work with them to develop their engines, with the RDE facilities central to this development, enabling simulation of extreme altitude and temperature environments.
We were supplied with 2D CAD drawings of the building which we used to model the environment, and also 3D CAD models which we textured using reference materials. Using 3D animation we were able to demonstrate how the facilities uniquely enabled engine development, something which couldn’t be done through filmed video or any other media.
This was all brought together in After Effects where we included on-screen messaging and a dynamic soundtrack to ensure the final piece had pace and engaged the audience.
We were invited to attend the launch day where the animation was played on a large screen at the start of the event. On the day we received excellent feedback with the animation getting a round of applause at the end.
We are delighted to have been involved in the development of this animation and see the world class facilities first hand. You can watch the animation below.
